Talofa! My name is Filiga Taukiei Nelu.
Filiga hails from the beautiful island of Vaitupu in Tuvalu and is a dedicated feminist and human rights advocate working in Tuvalu and across the Pacific region.
She is the Founder and Secretary of the Tuvalu Women for Change Organization (‘Fatu ‘Lei) and currently coordinates the ‘Fatu ‘Lei Women and Girls Center in Tuvalu. Through these leadership roles, Filiga has been instrumental in creating safe spaces for women and girls, strengthening community awareness, and advancing advocacy initiatives that address gender-based violence and promote women’s empowerment.
Across all her work, Filiga has been a strong and consistent advocate for gender equality and the elimination of all forms of violence against women and children. Her advocacy extends beyond national borders through her active membership in the Pacific Women’s Network Against Violence Against Women (PWNAVAW), where she contributes to regional collaboration, solidarity, and policy dialogue aimed at advancing women’s rights across the Pacific.
