Kiribati Women and Children Support Centre (KWCSC), Kiribati

Teretia-Tokam Sualiki is the Executive Director of the Kiribati Women and Children Support Centre, the country’s leading organisation supporting survivors of violence against women and children. In this role, she leads the Centre’s work to strengthen crisis support services, expand community awareness, and advocate for stronger national systems to prevent and respond to violence.

Teretia brings extensive experience working across government, regional organisations, and civil society. Earlier in her career, she worked with the Office of the Attorney General of Kiribati, contributing to legal and policy processes related to women’s rights and protection. She later served as the Kiribati Country Focal Officer for the SPC Regional Rights Resource Team, supporting national engagement with regional and international human rights frameworks.

She also served as National Coordinator for the Eliminating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Project within the Ministry of Women, where she helped strengthen collaboration between government agencies, civil society organisations, and community stakeholders working to address violence.

Teretia continues to play an active role in Pacific regional networks addressing violence against women. Through her leadership, she advocates for practical, locally grounded solutions that centre survivor dignity and strengthen long-term efforts toward gender equality in Kiribati and across the Pacific.
